The Fabulous Food Babe: Suburban New York Living, Eating, Cooking, and Cussing

Day 90: Almost There

oh, yeah. Half the kitchen is in, and we moved ourselves into that half the other night. The star so far is the Miele Coffee Center — it’s amazing. Oh! We also really like the beverage and wine coolers, and the Sub Zero, and the Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawer, and the island and the beautiful pendants.

day-90-1.jpgIt’s so gorgeous that I can’t believe it’s mine.

Because we were (and are) still mostly in boxes, our Thanksgiving was spent at the Chart House in Dobbs Ferry. I had a great view of the Hudson River and the men had a great view of the football game. The food was very good and the staff worked so hard. Mr. Foodbabe, Firstie and I had turkey dinners with pumpkin pie; Secondo had crab legs and creme brulee. Thank you, Harold, for being a great waiter. Thank you, Secondo, for the comic relief. And thank you, Firstie, for driving so Mr. Foodbabe and I could drink cocktails and wine and snooze on the way home.

I don’t know how it happened, but my oldest son looks and acts 25. He is SO happy at his school and the warm weather in Tampa is just a part of it. He, um, entertained us with stories of smoking a hookah at the USF game. Some days, I just don’t even ask.

Secondo has taken up guitar, and picked up his alto sax for the first time in a couple of years. The house is once again full of the sweet sounds of scales, chords, and songs being played slowly, unintelligibly, and then progressively faster and faster until they reach the point where a voice yells, “Mom! Do NOT sing along with me!”

In other news, I finally found a sport I can beat Mr. Foodbabe at: Nintendo Wii Tennis. Stats today ..

Number of fingers Mr. Foodbabe smashed into the wall when he became more focused on beating me at Wii Tennis than his surroundings: One (20% of right-hand appendages)

Number of Neeners I gave him after determining that the finger was not broken: I stopped counting at seven.

Number of times I’ve been accused of being a nice wife this holiday: Zero. Hee-HEE!
