Day 50: See No Evil, Yippee Skippee!; I can’t believe I missed TLAPD

September 20, 2007 · 2 Comments

Heh. Heh heh heh. As I showed many posts ago, the area that the work is happening in, is behind some temporary walls, so I don’t have to look at “them” and “they” don’t have to look at “me.” I like it that way. I think the workers do, too.

Today, I overheard: We need to make some decisions, some muttering, and then, “1/8 inch? No. NO! NO! To 1/16 of an inch.” Followed by loud chain-saw sounds and a few bad words. I went to my happy place.

So when the woodworkers left and I went in to photograph, I wondered what I’d see. Gouges in the ceiling? Piles of bamboo veneer and maple tongue-in-groove? Filler panels? Or (gasp — horror — hope my architect doesn’t see this word: Soffits?)

Wow.

In other news, yesterday was killer and not always in a good way, so I learned way too late last night that I had missed Talk Like A Pirate Day! Y’arrrrrgh. (A big y’arrgh to my sailing mates Mr. Foodbabe, MichaelMichaelMichael, Carene, StuARRRRT, Cathy, “B&B Brad” (and we’re not talking Bed and Breakfast) and Bob and Candy Storr. What is not to love about people who regularly write in the subject line of their emails, a pure, simple, R ? Nothin’ but memories, dahinks. Thank you.)

Stats: Number of Bloggers who are going to see Mr. James Buffett perform at the Garden tonight: One! That would be MOI. (No percentage because I don’t know if other bloggers will be there.)

Rows from the stage we shall be: 10. Yes, ten. Members of the FoodBabe Family to be clad in Tommy Bahama shirts: One (25% of total FBs; 50% of parental units; 100% of Fabby’s husbands).

Usefulness of TLAPD, tonight: Probably a high level. I do need to increase my pirate vocabulary. R. Matey. Avast. Shiver me timbers. Walk the plank.

Yeah. I can feeeeel the teenagers’ eyes rolling as I type this.

Concert report to follow. Have I said Yippee Skippee lately?

FABBY!!!!! Dahlinq! I am checking in and OMG! So! We must talk my dear as my husband is threatening to give me a dream kitchen and I’m afraid my pedantic upbringing is stifling my inner queen. SO, I absolutely must know everything about your process, how you decided on materials, etc. and how you are surviving the daily dust. I’ll go thru and read the entire blog in preparation too to catch up.

Baby! Release your inner queen. I’m going to give lessons on it, too. I’m surviving well — the $$ I spent on a great architect and contractor are being returned to me a thousand times. Plus, I really really like them.

Ask me anything. It’s a favorite topic. Did you see that J-L ate the manolos? aiyEEEEEE!

    Mwah,
    Fabs
